SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE ASSISTANTS
The Ministry of Education, Social Policy and Sport of Spain and the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. offer a Spanish Language and Culture Assistants program for primary, middle, high schools and for universities with Spanish Ministry of Education Resource Centers in the United States and Canada.
This program gives students of Spanish an opportunity to learn Spanish language and culture from native speakers. At the same time, the Spanish assistants have the opportunity to learn about English language and American culture and use their knowledge upon their return to Spain, thus helping to develop cultural understanding between the two countries.
As a pre-requisite for acceptance in the program, the candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Many Spanish assistants may have also completed their teacher training.
The assistants’ salaries ($1000 a month) and medical insurance are paid by the Spanish Ministry of Education from October to June (both inclusive).
The schools/school districts/universities with Spanish Resource Centers will provide free lodging and transportation for the same time period.
